SPECTRAIL is an IoT sensing platform which enables truly intelligent infrastructure. It is simple, low cost, fast to fit, maintenance free and able to sense at a majority of locations, yet, through its novel architecture, remains very flexible to local requirements. Jointly developped by AP Sensing, Pyreos, CSA Catapult and Lightricity, the platform will allow the infrastructure custodian the ability to collect data at sites previously inaccessible to power or connectivity, or at those deemed too high cost. The benefits to the infrastructure owner arise from a new ease in collecting targeted and actionable asset condition knowledge, enabling a predict-and-prevent maintenance strategy across many asset types – benefits which can be passed directly to rail users.

Lightricity advances Deployable Solar Power for Small Satellites
Lightricity has completed a £1.1 million UK Space Agency-funded project with AVS UK Ltd and the University of Leicester to develop a roll-out flexible solar blanket for small satellites.
The prototype combines ultra-thin multi-junction solar cells with a compact deployment mechanism, helping increase power density, extend mission life, and support more capable satellite payloads.
