Characterisation Equipment
Indoor Light Simulators
Easy to use characterisation tools for accurate and standards-based test & measurement of indoor solar cells and indoor PV systems.
LightBox Indoor Light Simulator
Calibrated Indoor Light Simulator Giving Lab-Grade PV Characterisation on Your Benchtop.
Closed-loop illuminance control via four lux sensors delivers automated I-V and P-V curve acquisition across a precisely regulated range from below 10 lux to 50,000 lux — covering the full breadth of indoor light environments in a single instrument.
A class A white LED array with up to 10,000 hours of operational lifetime and near-zero warm-up time ensures excellent light uniformity and repeatable measurements from the moment you switch it on.
GPIB-USB connectivity provides out-of-the-box compatibility with Keithley 2400/01, Keithley 2600, Keysight 2900, and OSSILA P2005A2 source measure units, with further SMU customisation available.
Characterisation Equipment
Reference Indoor PV cells
Calibrate artificial light sources prior to evaluating device performance using the reference cell, with an excellent spectral match with indoor light spectra.
Reference Indoor Photovoltaic Cell
IEC-Compliant Reference Cell Engineered Specifically for Indoor Artificial Light Calibration
Unlike conventional filtered reference cells, the spectral response is purpose-engineered for indoor artificial light sources across 360–830 nm, with no sensitivity in the NIR and IR regions, delivering an excellent spectral match to white LED and fluorescent spectra straight out of the box.
Excellent linearity from as low as 1 lux, combined with a protective quartz window and 4-wire measurement via standard LEMO cable, ensures accurate and repeatable light intensity calibration across the full range of indoor illuminance conditions.
Compliant with IEC TS 62607-7-2:2023 and IEC 60904-2, with integrated light and temperature monitoring via USB-C software, it provides everything needed for rigorous indoor PV characterisation.
Characterisation Equipment
Universal Multiplexer
Accelerate photovoltaic testing by driving a source meter and rapidly switching between and measuring up to 8 devices.
Rapidly Switch and Characterise Up to 8 Photovoltaic Devices
Use a Single Source Meter Without Needing to Change a Single Hardware Connection
Configurable via software between 8 channels in 2-wire mode or 4 channels in 4-wire mode, with a typical leakage current of just 10 pA and on-state resistance of 2 Ω, the Universal Multiplexer introduces negligible measurement error even when characterising ultra-low-power indoor PV devices.
A wide operating range of ±5V and 150 mA maximum current capability ensures compatibility across both indoor and outdoor photovoltaic technologies, while 4 mm banana jacks for the test instrument and 2 mm banana jacks for devices under test provide a clean, secure physical interface.
USB-powered and controlled via a simple desktop application — with a Python library available on request — it integrates directly into automated test sequences alongside Lightricity’s LightBox simulators.
